"Born in 1997 and of Indonesian heritage, Melise Harris is a Netherlands-based sculptor and interdisciplinary artist. A graduate of Hacettepe University, Faculty of Fine Arts (Department of Sculpture), Harris merges her academic foundation in three-dimensional form with a profound exploration of color theory and repetitive structural art.

Her practice is centered on the transformative power of paper and the meditative discipline of origami. By constructing large-scale installations—such as her signature work featuring hundreds of hand-folded units—she investigates the tension between individual fragility and collective strength. Harris’s work often serves as a socio-political commentary, utilizing vibrant color palettes and mathematical precision to critique power dynamics and governance. Currently living and working in the Netherlands, she continues to bridge her multicultural background with contemporary sculptural techniques to create silent yet powerful manifestos of unity and resistance."
